AN-011Problem Solving

Why do I get views but no subscribers?

Views are rented attention. Follows happen when viewers can see there's an act worth returning to — most videos never show them one.

The Diagnosis

A view and a follow are answers to two different questions. The view answers 'is this video worth my next minute?' The follow answers 'is this PERSON worth a permanent slot in my feed?' Most videos that rack views without followers answered the first question brilliantly and never posed the second. The viewer enjoyed the video, but nothing signaled a repeatable act — no visible identity, no format that implies an episode two, no reason to expect the next one will hit the same. Viral traffic makes this worse, not better: spike audiences are the coldest you'll ever reach. The fix isn't asking harder ('smash subscribe' converts nobody). It's making the act legible: a consistent identity viewers can name, a format that's obviously a series, and direct address that builds familiarity fast.
